Requesting the Regents Tuition Benefit Program

To request this benefit, employees must complete form UM 1454: Request for Regents Tuition Benefit Program form (PDF) and submit it to [email protected] for eligibility review.

This request should be received and processed prior to the first day of the term. Late submissions are not guaranteed to be covered under the Program.

After employees submit their request, their form routes to the appropriate approvals noted below, if required.

Supervisor approval is needed for the following situations:

  • Taking summer classes while on an academic year appointment.
  • Taking a class or related component during your scheduled hours.
    • Authorization to take a course during work hours should occur after a discussion between the employee and supervisor.
    • Approval is at the discretion of the supervisor.

One Stop Student Services processes fully completed and approved forms. Employees are copied so they know the status of their application.

Registering for Classes

Completion of the Request for Employee Tuition Benefit Program does not register you for courses. You must complete the official registration steps through One Stop Student Services.

Billing and Payment

Employees who register for classes must submit the form UM 1454: Request for Regents Tuition Benefit Program form in time to have it processed prior to the first billing date of the registration term.

The employee portion of tuition costs and any cost not designated as tuition (e.g., computer course, course fees, and late fees) will be billed to the employee's student account and must be paid by the billing due date. If the form is submitted after this date, the employee is responsible for any late/installment fees assessed.

You can view your student account by going to My Finances in MyU.

If you are a non-degree seeking student, payment is due by the first billing date. If not received, your registration will be canceled.
