Requesting Approval to Take an Exam for Proficiency or Credit
Students wishing to take an exam for proficiency or credit must first visit their home college to determine if successful completion of the exam will apply to the student's degree program; students on the Morris and Rochester campuses must first meet with Scholastic Committee executive staff in the Office of the Registrar.
The student on any campus should then submit a "Request for Special Examination" form to the appropriate department. Once approved, this form is routed to the student's home college, and finally to the Office of the Registrar.
The student must schedule the exam and take the exam. A student must successfully complete the exam to the department's satisfaction in order for the course to be reflected on a transcript as either proficiency or examination for credit.
