New policies, major policy changes, and policies undergoing comprehensive review require consultation with the Senate Committee(s) assigned to the policy in the Senate Matrix and the Diversity Community of Practice - Equity Lens Policy Review Committee (ELPRC). After these consultations, the Policy Advisory Committee (PAC) and, if necessary, the President’s Policy Committee (PPC) will review. All new and retired policies will go to the PPC; for comprehensive review and all other major changes, the PAC will vote as to whether PPC approval is needed. 

Minor policy changes that are outside the comprehensive review window may or may not have to be reviewed by the Senate Committee(s), ELPRC, or PAC depending on the content of the change. Policy owners are encouraged to contact the University’s Policy Program Director at [email protected] to determine whether or not the consulting process is required for minor changes.

Small policy changes for clarity, new definitions, new contact information, etc. are generally considered “technical” changes and likely will not need to be consulted. Similarly, any punctuation, grammar, formatting, link changes, and accessibility issues are considered “non-content” changes that do not need to be consulted. These changes can be sent to [email protected] or by commenting on the policy and changes will be made directly on the Policy website. If you are not the policy owner requesting the technical changes, the policy program will obtain approval from the policy owner prior to making the change.
