Stormwater Compliance: Duluth Campus Additional Requirements
Appendix to Policy
The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program has several additional requirements related to construction activities.
Designated Campus Storm Water Point of Contact
The University of Minnesota Duluth's designated campus storm water point of contact is in its Facilities Management Department (FM). Contact FM at 218-726-8262 or Erik Larson at 218-726-6915 / firstname.lastname@example.org.
Construction Site Storm Water Control / Post-Construction Storm Water Management
BMP 5a-1 Construction/Development Setback Requirements - The UMD Campus discharges to several designated trout streams, restricted waters, wetlands, and TMDL Impaired waters. In these areas more stringent controls and stream setback requirements may be required. These areas are described in the Construction Site Storm Water Control portion of our campus Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program and can be found on our website at http://www.d.umn.edu/fm/stormwater/construction.html.
BMP 5a-1 Tree Preservation, Protection, and Planting - The Tree Preservation, Protection, and Planting BMP recognizes the important role trees play in storm water management. The BMP's goal is to protect the larger mature trees and replace those that must be removed. It also supports the UMD Master Plan's vision of inviting the northern forest environment into the campus by placing a high value on existing mature trees.
