The University of Minnesota wants to make information easily available to the public. To do so, the University assembles reports of matters of high public interest and puts the reports on the Web for inexpensive and easy access. In addition, the University has several resources available to the public for answers to routine requests for information (e.g., employment verification, salary verification). Finally, for special requests for public information not available through these other resources, the University maintains a Records and Information Management Office dedicated to responding to requests for public information. All of these resources are described below. It is the University's intent to respond to all requests for public information in a timely and efficient manner.

Statistical information about the University is available from several of the websites listed in the On-Line Public Information section below.

A. Online Public Information

The University provides many reports on the internet. These locations may provide you with the information you need.

B. Routine Requests for Public Information

(Student, employment, salary and purchasing) Many routine requests for public information can be obtained by calling the following locations. The general information regarding students is covered in the Regent's policy on Student Records.

Because the primary mission of the University is education, not record keeping or document production, it may take some time to research your request and locate the document. Making your request specific will enable us to locate the information as quickly as possible.
